Job Coach Project

When people with visually impaired go out alone, they usually carry their white stick, or there may be a brail block on the streets to help them. How about people who are mentally retarded, and mentally disabled? What kind of support would they need to go around and socialize? For most cases, it is said that they require communication support, which is support from people.
For people with mental disability to get a job placement does not always mean that being able to do a certain job is important.
However, what is most important is people's understanding for them to get a continuous job placement. Even people with severe disability can work, when they are guided. Job Coach is a supporter, who would encourage people with disabilities, for their socialization.

The Job Coach system of "Shizuoka Job Placement for the Challenged" basically buddy-up with Job Coach and disabled person. Job Coach not only works with people with disability, but they also collaborate with companies, families, and other related institutions trying to maintain wide range of view, and indirect standpoint at the same time.

The supporting contents of Job Coach

Job Coach works side-by-side with the challenged at their work place. Job Coach offers support from various angles, so that it will help their independence.
The following are series of support offered:

1. Support for commute to their work place.
2. Support for facilitating their work. There are many things that challenged can do even though they have disability. It's usually one part of something, that they can't do. Often, that one part is boldly revealed, that people with disability tend to think they can't work. However, by having Job Coach they support to adapt the job for the challenged, not adapt the challenged to the job.
3. Support for the communication within the work place. To become settled at the work place, it is important to do one's job, but what's also crucial is communication among fellow collegues.
